Mycin Amana

Witch Queen of Darkfaller (deposed)

Necromancer

First appearance. A Nemovort captured during the Olum Seheri raid β€” "She was in the care of the Emissary Fallawen, near to Sevendor. She would have been the closest one to Korbal, but also the Nemovort least likely to betray her beloved. As she was also responsible for the death of Fallawen's mother, I could be assured that her interrogations had not revealed anything as of yet. I shuddered to think how they were conducted." Korbal's beloved lieutenant.

Arcanist

Held in Fallawen's custody near Sevendor. Khudoz the Nemovort (captured by Dara) dismissively calls her "a distraction. Korbal is a fool to devote himself to such a fancy." Korbal's obsession with her retrieval drives much of the year's enemy strategy.

Footwizard

Still held in Fallawen's custody. Her eventual escape (engineered by Enshadowed sleeper agents) and subsequent seizure of Darkfaller Castle during Minalan's Anghysbel expedition becomes the book-ending civil-war catalyst.

Hedgewitch

First on-page appearance since her Book 10 capture. Mycin Amana (wearing Isily's body) reveals herself in shocking fashion at the Barrowbell truce-parley in the Abbey of Huin: she has taken Darkfaller. Names Terleman, Minalan, and Pentandra as Karakush's top three targets:

You, the Spellmonger, and the one called Terleman. Know that the many eyes of Karakush are upon you.

The revelation collapses the human civil war and forces Rard to appoint Terleman Royal High Marshal. Her Darkfaller occupation becomes the book-defining strategic threat.

The Mad Mage of Sevendor

"The Witch Queen (as she is becoming known in the precincts around Darkfaller)." Fallawen and Mycin Amana "have a long and complicated history filled with antipathy. Fallawen blames the Nemovort for the death of both her parents, and was briefly her captor and interrogator (and, perhaps, her torturer) until she was rescued a few brief months ago."

At Darkfaller, her secret weapon emerges during Minalan's raid: the Paranchek breeding pit. "The foe that struck me to the core was the unexpected presence of Mycin Amana's secret weapon. As soon as it emerged from the bowels of Darkfaller, my memory informed me of the true nature of the beast." Her position and fortifications drive Mavone's strategic briefings throughout the book.

Marshal Arcane

Central antagonist of the Darkfaller Raid. Still wearing Isily's body; commands Darkfaller's draugen, wyverns, Paranchek, and Enshadowed sorcerers. Unleashes the Castabriel Paranchek attack as retribution for the raid β€” Paranchek spiders in Tavard's capital during the Yule festival. Minalan's thaumaturgic confrontation with her at Darkfaller occupies the book's tactical climax.

Ruderal, who has made Nemovort-lore his personal study, disagrees with Minalan's decision to spare her in Isily's body.

Preceptor

Loses Darkfaller in the final assault. With Korbal present and the Paranchek breeding pit broken, her hold on the castle collapses under the combined Minalan-Terleman-Tavard offensive. Her final fate is tangled with the climactic Olum Seheri confrontation where Korbal is defeated and Sheruel freed.
